About the Transition Research Network

The Transition Research Network (TRN) is a self-organising peer group of academics and community activists which aims to:
  • Help advance understanding and practice in Transition;
  • Support Transition groups to address their research needs
  • Help transform the crisis in our universities into an opportunity for positive change in research culture, making research relevant, fulfilling, and fun.
Its main phase of activity ran from 2011 to 2014, when it organised a series of UK-based events and initiated key projects on Participatory Research Methodologies and Monitoring and Evaluation.

Since 2014, its networking and project development functions have largely been incorporated into ECOLISE, the European Network of Community-Led Sustainability Initiatives, where it maintains close connections to the Permaculture International Research Network and Global Ecovillage Network Research Working Group.
